My Tombow collection is pretty elite, except I don't own any of the following:
• Woodgrain EXTA models • Variable models (3, 4, 5)
With that said, there is one pencil I'm dying to get—it's this double-knock in 0.5 (https://ameblo.jp/staedler-rotring/image-11663310455-12735518130.html)
Also, one of these just sold on ebay (by mtwritingco), but it appeared to be in poor condition, and the double-knock centering action looked suspect in the photos
Absolutely gutted—my sniper bid was outbid on an auction for 19 Tombow W-knocks 😔
Sucks when auctions close while I'm taking the kids to school
I closed the tab, let's see if I can find it again
First time I've ever seen these available, and I thought I went ham on my bid
https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/t1029754590
And this auction included both variants—black and navy
And I could have sold 17 for at least $65 apiece
Both Pilot and Tombow made this style and size of double-knock, and Colleen and Pentel had similar entries as well
Of the ones I've used, I find these Tombows to be the very best
Although Colleen is extremely strong in this arena
But I suspect the Pentel 5 hairline double knock is the best of them all
Had a chance to buy one of those for $132 and didn't pull the trigger
Then again, I am the world's biggest double knock fan
Never saw a gold Dimple before last week, but now they're popping up everywhere:
Too bad Tombow used a cheap plastic clutch; they ruined a lot of their best models with cheap internals
(all 4 in that listing above are junk, though they could be rehabbed if you were able to find a lot of 10 black Dimples)
I mostly leave that stuff to Money-Mechanic or Progstu 😂
There's a gold dimple on YJP I'm watching.
My red dimple spits out 1cm of lead with each push
you'll learn what I like and hook me up at some pernt
especially the Dimple pros, which are really top tier
I focus on the Quicker Clicker family. I have most but there are a few I dont have
No current interests outside of that? I've got about 200 worthy listings I think other enthusiasts would enjoy
oh yea I collect others but I'm not dying over them
eBay has been kinda good for Quicker Clickers the past few months
yea I've had all of those for years if not decades
That gold Dimple went for like 6400¥...resin clutch and all 😳
Yea when I was watching it early on I was hopeful then you said you needed it so I unfollowed.
I checked on it earlier today and gawwee
Prices are silly right now. If I had any sense at all, I wouldn't bid.
But tomorrow is a BIG day 😖
Yeah I have a big day starting at like 5 am I believe.
I only do snipes now because of the time change, but tomorrow is my last buying day for a long time
Buyee has pissed me off to the point I don't want to use them anymore
and I want to free up time to build out this new business
Surprisingly, that hasn't put a dent in my activity yet
Aight let's have it out, what are your must-haves for tomorrow?
I have 8 auctions for tomorrow that I've bid pretty aggressively on
The blue p555 and the crew id really like
I have a green crew and maybe a black one I would be happy to sell ya
I definitely eyeballed each one of these you are watching, tho
I think an all-black FFF went for ~6500¥ recently
(which I think is ridiculous, but I could say that about a lot of pencils these days)
That orange Kokuyo mistral you picked up was a solid deal
Yeah I lol forward to packing up in a week or so
but I have learned to stop 7-8 days early after getting hosed a couple times by late shippers
and I have 21 items that hit the 30-day expiry on the 24th
https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/x1030767125
Getting into the longtail of collecting is brutal—I paid 20,000¥ last week for a lot so I could get one pencil 😔
Oh I'm not bidding on that Colleen—I know a trap when I see one, lol
The 20K lot is fine bc it included M3-1052, M4-1052, and M5-1052 in mint condition
I'll be able to recover pretty much all the cost right there
(I thought I had bid a wildly high amount for that one)
*Thread Reply:* So there were 6 original Kerry models with the 5 designation
*Thread Reply:* and Pentel trotted out lots of limited edition colors with "5" through the years
I was watching that one and the blue and the brown but bowed out
This is wild—my bids would have won easily September–November
my sniper bid was not placed because it was not higher ENOUGH than the current bid
Even though my bid was higher than the final price! GYAHHH
Not sure when it'll cool off. And probably by the time it does nothing will be available anymore
I got my Crew and P555. Time to stop watching for a bit and let things get delivered.
It looks like I was the last person to be outbid on pretty much everything I bid on
My bid was 6999 https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u1030907720
That yellow is incredible, and I ddin't even know the P875 existed
Pretty excellent sampling of Tombow models here:
https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/c1005745761?conversionType=mypagewatchlist
I'm guessing 7 people are watching this to see if it actually sells for that price.
I have a friend in Turkey who can get his hands on the Non-Stop 0.6 + leads. But the trick is the clear barrels tend to have small cracks in them.
I have four of the 0.6s and a TON of lead 💅:skintone6:
All the Turkish stuff comes with 2B, which is awesome
0.6mm lead? I assume that's just Serve rounding up standard 0.5mm lead and calling it 0.6mm?
It's actually 0.6mm and doesn't fall within the range of 0.5 or 0.7

*Thread Reply:* This made me smile cuz my daughter, who is 20 months, is in a phase where she “needs” everything.
Trying to put her to bed. Cookie. Need it. Water. Need it. Toy store. Need it.
*Thread Reply:* Tombow SH-500W. Need it.
My sniper bid was ¥7999 🥺 https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/o1035728513
Just noticed that two Tombow Monotech 1000 0.4s have gone for cheap on Mercari recently
*Thread Reply:* Ah! Was embroiled in real life matters… they'll come around again :-)
*Thread Reply:* I feel like the price may be going down for a little while, which is nice!
One in a set for ¥6800 (3, 4, 5), and another standalone for ¥4600
(immediately thought of @Kelvin Pang (drifand) here)
Giving the ol’ Monotech 1000 0.4 a go… not the mintiest but… alright.
*Thread Reply:* Nice! Good seller, and I think you'll bag this one 🤙:skintone6:
Nabbed that 1000/0.4… hopefully it looks better in person 😆
This is probably as good a price as you'll see for this Tombow (I think it may be the SH•1500LP?) https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n1039339515
Agree. Quite reasonable! I'm just thinking whether to get the 0.3… with the plasticky silver lead hardness window.
I've got to get the SH-700W 0.5 before I can focus on these higher-end drafting pencils
I also want the blue and black versions of the Tombow W-knock with that lightning-style silkscreen
👀 https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m1042287696
Special piece here: https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/j1046869151
Never seen one before; absolutely LOVE that tip; reminds me of the water droplet tips on Pilot executives from the 1970s
I saw one of those sold in a Tombow lot and it didn't go for that much. Probably around $100-$200
But when this was first posted, the owner had it for like $700
13,299 is like $105 at the current exchange rate
https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e1042639298
*Thread Reply:* Might have been the listing of the year so far. 3 super rare Tombows plus the MONO executives...for less than the price of one of these pencils (the body knock with black tip that sold recently)
Oh man, those three MONO colored ones!
I see the caps. That is very cool! The markings in the middle seem to indicate that twisting does something. Is this right? What does it do?
It's a lead regulator function, like on the Staedtler REG or the OHTO Super Promecha. You twist it to set the amount of lead advanced per click. The amount varies for each model:
0.3mm model: 0.2–0.6mm 0.4mm model: 0.3–0.7mm 0.5mm model: 0.4–0.8mm
