I will start off this thread with one of my Pentel Display Cabinets. This is the first one I purchased, and it had a little damage that was easily fixable, and it is missing the third try, so I use it to display some of my packaged sets. I added LED channels to each side to light it up. https://www.flickr.com/photos/nimrodd/49555223121
*Thread Reply:* I purchased a second one a few years ago, but it is seriously damaged, and I have never done anything with it. I just purchased another one off eBay that looks to be in better condition than either of my other two.
Now I just need to find a place for it in the office.
*Thread Reply:* Ahh so you got that one that was listed recently. I almost pulled the trigger on it but the seller was rude to me.
*Thread Reply:* Even with the high shipping cost, I am surprised I got it for minimum bid.
*Thread Reply:* Got the new display in today. One minor chip on the trim on the back door, and a little bit scraped off the Pentel label on the front. The previous owner modified the front labels on the trays, but otherwise it is in better condition than either of my other two.
*Thread Reply:* I will probably modify it like the first, adding LED strips along the front edges.
*Thread Reply:* Nice! Glad it’s in good shape. Kinda kicking myself for not picking this one up but glad you got it.
I also have two Pentel lead displays. https://www.flickr.com/photos/nimrodd/50972979932 https://www.flickr.com/photos/nimrodd/50972185068
These are fantastic! I have the lead container and an old old display. Let me dig it up…
Here’s one of my lead cabinets. Yes, that’s a lot of 0.7 😃

Not sure if anyone would even attempt to buy something like this from overseas, but there is a Pentel display cabinet for sale on Mercari: https://jp.mercari.com/item/m59599922922
*Thread Reply:* That is really nice, but it is big! It reall makes a statement. I don't even want to think about trying to ship it.
*Thread Reply:* It has been on eBay for a while at $955.00 https://www.ebay.com/itm/334188188588

I needed a few more storage cases so that I could move some more stuff over to long term storage so I ordered 4 of these.
https://www.pennstateind.com/store/PK-DISP.html
Wasn't thrilled with the price but the place I usually order from was out of stock.
To my surprise what I received had black interior. I love it!!
Yay, an alternate source. The last time I ordered from https://www.thewoodturningstore.com/legacy-black-leather-pen-case-48pcs/, they had changed the insert, and I was not happy with it. I do like the black on the ones you received.
These are thinner than the woodturning store ones and they don't have a handle.
I really like all of the 48 pcs ones I got from the woodturning store.
I also have a dozen or so of these for when I'm pulling stuff out and reorganizing
https://www.pennstateind.com/store/PKFXTRAY.html
The newer ones I received have the strap in a lower position (towards the pad), so my pencils don't all lay flat.
I need to get some of those. I would sacrifice at least one to build a display in an old Cigar display that my grandfather had.
Yeah they can be cut out to whatever size you need pretty easily
No question these displays look freakin incredible
Tempted to get this to display some of my Tikkys but I'm thinking I'd get it in and be disappointed in it.
*Thread Reply:* With a little Photoshop work, cardboard, and glue you could make one or 10 of these.
*Thread Reply:* totes but I have a thing for original packaging and displays
*Thread Reply:* Are there any duplicates or is that very slight differences in colors.
*Thread Reply:* If each one of those is different then that's even mo crazy to what pentel does with the Kerry.
*Thread Reply:* Very slight differences in color between some for sure.
*Thread Reply:* I'm stressed just thinking about it 😂
*Thread Reply:* I wish I had the space for something properly set up like this. Apartments in Singapore are just not that big…
I'm currently storing my collection in B4 size box files with zig-zag cards as dividers. And I use both sides of the case. Works well 80% of the time, but thicker pens like P300, Tradio etc just need slightly wider dividers.
In this old pic, I had to empty out a couple of trays for Mitsubishi, Pilot etc to display the Pentel family in a single shot. Didn't quite work out as my lens wasn't wide enough and I couldn't get the camera high enough either. 😂
*Thread Reply:* 🔥 collection.
Really digging the set of Mannish. Those are the best.
*Thread Reply:* I actually missed out on buying them in-store at Tokyu Hands in Singapore. I had taken too long to decide if they were too girly… and they were sold out by the time I found my reason in a set of similarly retro-colored Bic Clics. Had to go hunting on Rakuten for a while to find them all back in one store.
*Thread Reply:* Did you ever see the fake ones someone was making?
*Thread Reply:* Oh I like those containers. So they stand up when closed? Meaning, you don’t have to keep them lying down flat right?
*Thread Reply:* Yeah, I've seen the fakes. Highest form of compliment and all that but I’d only buy them if I saw them in person and just wanted to scratch an itch. I've seen China-made leadholders styled after Zebra’s Tect 2way and India-origin ballpoints that looked like a standard Kurutoga. :D
Uhhh… I do store the box files flat but the beauty is they are stackable so I keep a stack of 7-8 in one cubby hole in an Ikea shelf. Storing the cases upright would put pressure on the tips or buttons…
*Thread Reply:* Box files - I got mine cheap from DAISO, the original 100 yen discount store. In Singapore that means SGD 2.00 per item for most things. I chose B4 (smaller than A4) because I felt the smaller size would have less structural weakness in the middle of the box when stacked 6-8 high.
There are obviously higher quality box files from Kokuyo etc, but they also have greater volume, which in this case, is not an attribute. I wanted THIN cases that would be tall enough for most pencils and pens.
*Thread Reply:* What did "Mannish" refer to? Never heard that designation before
*Thread Reply:* Also, I've only seen that folded paper referred to as "folded cardstock" or "accordion cardstock" here in the US, and as far as I know, it cannot be purchased (you gotta fold it yourself)
*Thread Reply:* Did you fold these on your own?
*Thread Reply:* In Japan and Europe there is a fashion called mannish that is basically masculine features in feminine pieces.
*Thread Reply:* Which pencils qualified as Mannish in Kelvin's pics?
*Thread Reply:* https://youtu.be/0_4rkZ0sofc
*Thread Reply:* Wild. So these colors were already associated with "mannish" fashion? Or Pentel released this handy color sheet to go with their pencils?
*Thread Reply:* I'm guessing the former based on your commentary, but this is all new to me
*Thread Reply:* I got them to go with a bunch of Kikkerland branded bic clics…
Picture 1 - SG Pencils Picture 2 - PS35/45/65, A21, P1085, PS1042, PS1045 and BK1041(?) Picture 3 - P245 (8), P247 (2) & P143 Picture 4 - P575 Crew, P595 Pop'npop and Rush On Goals
*Thread Reply:* Love these displays. I like having different styles displayed together...but separate
*Thread Reply:* This is just what I threw together last night. I may remove the P245's, since the over half are blue, and they look similar.
*Thread Reply:* I just finally got the fourth plexiglass cut this past week. When I bought it, it came with 3 covers.
*Thread Reply:* And I really need to clean it.
