Not a new article but I do love the photos of this place.
I want to go to Japan specifically to go through old stationery stores 🤓

I miss my semi annual trips to Hong Kong with my wife. Super fun for long weekends and plenty to see and do for both of us.
Anyone know if the newer Sakura Create ballpoint can hold an Uni Jetstream refill?
Craft-lab… the refills are not standardised across the models. I've managed to cut down Sakura’s own ballsign gel refill for 002. Also managed to cut down a Kokuyo gel for 001. Don't have 003 or 004. 005… the extruded petal design… uses an even shorter gel refill. No idea about the modular 006.
So in my quest to find a way to purchase off Mercari during the mandatory Japan Only waiting period, I have found an individual located in Japan who is willing to purchase items and ship out. I was in the middle of talking to her when the PD505 listing dropped off Mercari, but will probably test it out with something else… and probably wiser to start off the relationship with a cheaper item anyway. Her fee is 20% plus 6% for PayPal, so definitely not the cheapest, but if you’re able to buy Japan Only items…maybe worth it.
I found her through a toy collecting forum and folks are vouching for her there.
Anyone know anything about this Sakura? I’m not finding much about it but it looks kind of special. https://www.ebay.com/itm/333872312715
*Thread Reply:* I know nothing about it but wow it's ornate.
*Thread Reply:* I'm guessing you bought it
*Thread Reply:* I’ve been wanting an etched pencil like those Sailors but that’s a bit out of my range.
*Thread Reply:* I can’t find anything else about this thing though.
*Thread Reply:* those are the best pieces
*Thread Reply:* Sakura, Sailor, Pilot, and Ohto all produced super high-end etched stainless pieces
*Thread Reply:* I guess this was Sakura's attempt; I've been most impressed with the Ohto and the Sailor
*Thread Reply:* Pilot has one where the etched areas have been painted red; it's a looker
*Thread Reply:* But a 3000yen etched pencil with sticker and box? I couldn’t pass it up
*Thread Reply:* That seller has a few other sweet items.
*Thread Reply:* I can't believe they sold it for that price; I know they are familiar with YAJ and Mercari pricing for most pencils
*Thread Reply:* Yeah, they have plenty of cheaper items going for double
*Thread Reply:* Gotta say, this little etched Sakura is really cool.
*Thread Reply:* Oh damn, I didnt know you got one of these. How much was it?
*Thread Reply:* I don't have any of these intricately etched pencils. Ohto probably has the most popular example, but the ones from Pilot and Sakura are stunning
*Thread Reply:* I got a Platinum one too that I’ll post in a min.
*Thread Reply:* camaraen_sg or singaporemechanicalpencils?
*Thread Reply:* Surprised they let it go that cheap
*Thread Reply:* cameraen_sg often discounts pencils and throws on free shipping; sometimes, you can actually get a comparable price to a YAJ closing price
*Thread Reply:* If I were them, I would only sell on YAJ because the Japanese collectors are so ravenous
*Thread Reply:* and then you have all of us degenerates in there, too
*Thread Reply:* Camaraen and yes, his prices were totally good
*Thread Reply:* Here is the Platinum etched. I couldn't figure out how to fully remove the lead tube.
*Thread Reply:* A little perspective on the size next to the PD505.
*Thread Reply:* So good!!! Wow. Amazing pieces
*Thread Reply:* I didn't notice the tip style on the PD505 in previous posts; now I like it even more!
*Thread Reply:* And I swear there is another different metal tip out there for the PD515 Gray and Black Pop’npop edition.
I just used that personal proxy shopper to buy a Japan Only item: https://jp.mercari.com/item/m23153735088
*Thread Reply:* Awesome. Let us know how that goes.
I'm curious as to how long between when you make the request and the item is marked sold.
I've been using White Rabbit to buy Japan only items on Mercari and it usually works but there are a few times that it sells before they go to make the purchase.
*Thread Reply:* As soon as I sent the money, she bought it and it was marked as sold immediately.
*Thread Reply:* How do you communicate with her?
*Thread Reply:* And she is only doing payment via Wise.
*Thread Reply:* With her 20% fee though, it really only makes sense for certain things. But she doesn’t charge extra for consolidation or holding items.
*Thread Reply:* There are a few pieces I'd happily pay a 20% fee to acquire
*Thread Reply:* So I ended up purchasing 6 pencils from Teresa and have to say going forward, I will be using her for most things. Not only are you able to purchase Japan Only items, but you have a single point of contact who will communicate with the seller on your behalf, asking for more info/pics/lower price/etc. She is also very organized, keeping all details in a spreadsheet she sends after each purchase. When the item arrives, she lets you know and posts some pictures for you to comment on. Regarding her fees, again the 20% may not always work out in your favor for higher priced items, but using these 6 pencils as an example they cost ¥19380 plus her fee, ¥3876 for a total of ¥23256. Comparing that to Buyee, the cost would’ve been ¥1964 more, which is about enough for the final shipping cost.
*Thread Reply:* How do we communicate with this mysterious person?
*Thread Reply:* Pretty fantastic result, honestly
*Thread Reply:* Sounds more viable than I originally suspected
*Thread Reply:* Here is her website, https://teresastoystore.com/
*Thread Reply:* thanks for sharing! Glad it was so successful
*Thread Reply:* I told her she may hear from some of you.
*Thread Reply:* Her instagram is where she posts everything she receives
*Thread Reply:* Through this I also started using Wise for payments and have to say it’s pretty nice too without the same fees as PayPal
*Thread Reply:* Received my package from Teresa yesterday and she packed everything individually and securely in bubble wrap and duct tape. Will definitely be using her again!
*Thread Reply:* I always appreciate a good package job but sometimes it's a bit much to cut through but I'm usually just jonesing to see the piece.
*Thread Reply:* I hear you, thankfully it wasn't wrapped up in the duct tape!
*Thread Reply:* Super cool to see all the colors together
I gotta say….Still seeing Andrey’s Pencils without any inventory makes me sad.
*Thread Reply:* I still have a couple of pages in my list of searches that used to pull up his items.
*Thread Reply:* Actually, only 1 page was his. The other is searches for Pentel Catalogs, that generally pulled up his PDFs for sale.
*Thread Reply:* I think he just set his ebay away to 2031 since no one knows when their world will return to "normal"
