Here's a good first post for this channel. Anyone remember seeing this?
I expected to see more brass from you. 😀

Quicker clickers and closely-related cousins. Dots designate known (coloured only) or possible gaps (white and coloured dot). I'm also missing a couple of juniors and a blue pd355 (quick sharp). Enjoy!
*Thread Reply:* Dude! This is fantastic!
Is that a metal cap on the pd505?
*Thread Reply:* I may be able to help you with the pd335 Pop'npop gaps
*Thread Reply:* I don't think there is a solid black with white pocket clip and knock pd335. Same for transparent with white.
*Thread Reply:* I don't think there's a black pd335 Pop'npop
*Thread Reply:* PD1065 came in black, orange, yellow(ish)
*Thread Reply:* PD325 came in black, purple, red
*Thread Reply:* There's a clear pd345 with green knock and tip.
*Thread Reply:* There's also a dpd355 Disney
*Thread Reply:* There's also QuickColor. I think those are pd359. I'll have to check.
*Thread Reply:* This is such a great collection! Glad to have you here!
*Thread Reply:* @Ƶ is gonna try to buy your pd515 jetclic.
*Thread Reply:* Yes, it's a metal cap. You inspired that little customisation. I saw it and had to have it so take that as a compliment 😉
*Thread Reply:* Did Lindsey make the cap for you?
*Thread Reply:* If you can help with any gaps I'd be very appreciative.
*Thread Reply:* Add a nose from a Tradio to that metal cap
*Thread Reply:* Yup. I bought 5. The other 4 are still wrapped in the paper he sent them in.
*Thread Reply:* Yeah you have some I don't. Mostly transparent pd335 with white pocket clip and knock
*Thread Reply:* I already have but man I like the original tip best
*Thread Reply:* These are my a-list. I have another case with dupes. Not sure if there's any spare white clips but I'll take a look tomorrow.
*Thread Reply:* Honestly mate if I find any on the hunt you'll be the first to know.
*Thread Reply:* Re the pd335 black and charcoal... I've not seen them ever, except for that one that I think you have... I think it had some promo writing on it?
*Thread Reply:* Yeah that's it. Your collection I think is more extensive than mine overall.
*Thread Reply:* My transparent with green clicker is hiding in the second row
*Thread Reply:* Ahh yes. I don't have that one
*Thread Reply:* I think there's also a blue. I believe I have one.
*Thread Reply:* Yeah I saw that in yours! Another one I don't have.
*Thread Reply:* Every time I get another one of these I find out there's more I don't have. The 1065s, 325s, 335s and dpd are all so rare. They don't seem to come up very much at all.
*Thread Reply:* Do you have any of the pd347 or pd349 solid colors with Pentel Clic on them?
*Thread Reply:* No. Haven't seen any either. The 345s with clic writing are new additions today... from Andrey of course. Bought them for completeness.
*Thread Reply:* Also I think z hit me up on reddit regarding the jetclic.
*Thread Reply:* Yeah I have the yellow/mustard and I think the light blue with the label
*Thread Reply:* He offered me $3500.00 for mine
*Thread Reply:* Here's my post about the opaques https://sideknocks.blogspot.com/2020/06/1977-05-mm-opaque-complete-set.html?m=1
*Thread Reply:* Do you have all the lead out of the transparent barrels and the erasers out of the ones with plastic pocket clips?
*Thread Reply:* Some... yes. The dang lead discolours the barrels and the eraser on the 335s causes splitting right? Interestingly the 335s I got today don't have the splitting problem. I wonder if Andrey had them stored with the erasers removed.
*Thread Reply:* I'd say most actually. I've gotta go through and double check though.
*Thread Reply:* Most of mine aren't cracked but I have a few that are.
*Thread Reply:* Man I gotta get some sleep. Pick this up again another time. I'll post a pic of my dupes tomorrow. Hopefully we can do some trades.
*Thread Reply:* Dang, just getting on this thread! Sweet collection dude!
*Thread Reply:* Thanks Heath! It's a work in progress tbh.
*Thread Reply:* Also sideKnocks what's with pentel's dodgy variable printing of the Pentel Clic logo?
*Thread Reply:* It's Pentel. They are cray cray.
*Thread Reply:* If they weren't a mess then we'd have nothing to talk about or do detective work over and @Knocktype11 would be without a purpose in life. So thank you Pentel. Thank you.
*Thread Reply:* Sorry. I just saw this thread when my name was invoked. PD1065 came in black, orange (with an black cap), and red. Red is super rare. It is not in any of the catalogs. It is on my list.
*Thread Reply:* @sideKnocks (atxalais) more reason to buy additional copies too... just so I can have that 'perfect' set.
*Thread Reply:* This whole knockology thing is like a support group - it's a mix of information, compliments and enabling behaviour and I feel like I need to keep it secret from my wife (who actually is very supportive of my pencil collecting - to a degree).
*Thread Reply:* Also just want to add that I've collected numerous extra yellow PD345TG just because it's my daughter's favourite colour.
*Thread Reply:* Yeah my wife is supportive as well. She's an artist and has her obsessions as well.
*Thread Reply:* The yellow quicker clicker is what started my interest. Back in good ole 1990.
*Thread Reply:* It was green for me. My teacher in the mid-80s had a charcoal. Then I found them in kmart and had to beg for 1 of my own. The yellow is probably my second fave of the original 345s.
@Kelvin Pang (drifand) has joined the channel
*Thread Reply:* Man! There goes my evening. I definately need to look at these on the desktop.
*Thread Reply:* What are the black pencils on top of the lead carousel? I'm not talking about the rotrings.
*Thread Reply:* Yeah. Not the most impressive pencil but this model has been in outer space in the space station
*Thread Reply:* That Person's eraser holder does not quite look like any of the Pentel click eraser.
*Thread Reply:* I can't believe that they take pencils to the space station. Graphite dust and eraser boogers would be a disaster.
*Thread Reply:* In the case with the Sharplets, what is the white side knock pencil second from the left?
*Thread Reply:* They bring mechanical pencils as opposed to regular pencils since they don't need to be sharpened
*Thread Reply:* The white/cream side knock is a Mitsubishi Yoko2 M5-213
*Thread Reply:* You have two PD1065 in orange but none in black?
*Thread Reply:* The number and types of side clickers is pretty astounding.
*Thread Reply:* Correct. Waiting to be able to trade an orange for a black
*Thread Reply:* Good plan! I have some trade bait also.
*Thread Reply:* You also have two of the aluminium body funky side clickers. Also trade fodder? What are the years on those? Do they also predate the PD34x?
*Thread Reply:* No solid info on the year. May be a quirky metal version of the Technica PD1065 but I'm not sold on that idea.
*Thread Reply:* https://sideknocks.blogspot.com/2020/06/the-strange-pentel-technica-pd1055.html?m=1
*Thread Reply:* Here's my blog post on it.
*Thread Reply:* A nice one, https://jp.mercari.com/item/m81201457944
*Thread Reply:* And a not so nice one, https://jp.mercari.com/item/m98458286744
*Thread Reply:* There hasn't been a shortage of available ones for sale. I don't think people like them. More the reason for me to like it!
Had most of the collection out tonight. Figured I'd share.
Love the "Pentel Playhouse" in the back of the first picture! Must be where you store it all, yes? 😜 My son once took out one of the lead cases from my display, then dumped them out all over his bed!
I will also say that this is a very nice collection! I am impressed in the incredibly small number of pencils which we have in common. You have me beat totally on 0.7 lead. That looks like a lifetime supply.
@sideKnocks (atxalais) nice collection mate. There appears to be a couple more I wasn't aware existed... in the case with the Mizuno pd335 the top row has a pink transparent with a different coloured clicker mechanism 5th from left. Also is the clear barrel one a green clicker or dark blue clicker (10th from left)?
*Thread Reply:* Ahh yes I should have removed that pink PD345 wannabe from the photo. I Frankensteined that one from a PQ11. It usually throws people off like my all clear PD345 wannabe which I did remove from the photo.
The one 10th from the left is a blue Clear Clic II PD345R-C
Totally unrelated - what is in that jar next to the plant on the window sill?
It's a 2022 SD000
Unsuccessful Sourdough Starter
Although it was Amish Friendship Bread, which is awesome.
Thanks @sideKnocks (atxalais) for clarifying. I think we've already discussed that blue clear clic.
Did you guys receive that pd335 shipment yet?
Hell of an auction here—too bad I don't need any of these, but it's a great chance to pick up some heavy hitters:
WISH LIST: What are the pencils you desire the MOST for your collection?
Pentel PD515 Pop'npop. I’m a simple man.
I have an extra PD505 that I'm keeping as a possible trade for the 515
Here are mine: • Pentel PG1804 • Pilot H-1094 (must be near-mint) • Pilot H-3003 • Pilot H-3005 • Mitsubishi double-knock with copper grip section • Tombow 0.5 double-knock (unsure of model, but it's the DK version of the SH-700 LP) • Tombow W-knock in both blue and black • Pentel 5 double knock with hairline finish • Pentel PSD5/PWP15 double knock
I was a complete frickin idiot this morning and failed to win an auction for 2 cheap BOXY double knocks 😞
I thought I was gonna win a Pilot auction for ~20,000¥, so I didn't put too much emphasis on the smaller BOXY auction
I did score a black Zebra with full body knurling, so that's a win
The Buyee app has burned me a few times recently. Can't trust the app. Slow
I really want it to work and be reliable
I only use Buyee in my desktop browser, but even then, it's slow
I have noticed it’s way nicer to browse using zenmarket
I do not get the same results browsing zen
What are we doing with our lives, fellas?
The DHL man is a happy sight around here.
The USPS lady gave me a bunch of letters one day when I knew there were more and I’m like, are you sure there isn’t more???
Gave me a look and drove off only to return 5 min later
Hah. Thankfully mechanical pencils is my cheapest hobby.
Oh boy. I have a buddy who is into Ducati's. He has a problem.
2 things I'll overpay for every time: [1] 0.4mm and [2] double knocks
Is 0.4 just the sweet spot? Not too small but smaller?
I think 0.4 is sublime. 0.3 always seemed a smidge too small (which leads to annoying lead breakage), and honestly, I've always loved 0.5.
But early last year, I discovered 0.4, and it was love at first write. Pick up a Pentel Graph1000 0.4 to see what it's all about 🤙:skintone6:
*Thread Reply:* Nice! The Stadtler on the right is a subtle green. Usually Pentel green is kind of mushy but these are vivid.
*Thread Reply:* I find the Staedtler colors to be just gorgeous
*Thread Reply:* Imagine a green PS45 in there.
*Thread Reply:* I'm beginning to think you have a problem.
Some reds But the pink Staedtler isn't getting justice here.
*Thread Reply:* and that blue Parafernalia is not the same blue on it’s way, which is much deeper. This is their turquoise.
*Thread Reply:* The lighting is a pain with shiny objects. A light box helps. Even with one, it is all about the angles.
All of the color pictures are quite enjoyable.
These are great! That pencil with the pillars is a modern Kickstarter, no?
Those are something @sideKnocks (atxalais) turned me on to - Parafernalia Revolution
They aren't currently making them but are rumored to have something with a newer mechanism coming out soon.
They are surprisingly comfortable however I can't use it for too long.
I got a set of the floral P205s in today from Cult. I don't remember ordering these.
I don't drink or do drugs. 🤷♂️
I haven't commuted in close to a decade
But yea. Zoning out in morning traffic was the worse.
Have you guys taken stock of how many pencils/pens are in your collection? I used to have a basic database but lost it in a crash and never really set another one up again. Currently kludging it by using multiple shared Notes on iOS that I make complicated by including colored text on my Mac laptop - for which I cannot easily edit on my phone.
Current champion is… no surprise:
*Thread Reply:* Those are impressive numbers! What data do you store for each pencil?
I have been trying to get my pencils recorded in a database through google and Memento. Adding the pencils in is a little slow since for each pencil I put on a tag, give it a serial number, and take some pictures. I know what I want to end up with but it takes alot of time.
Perfection is the enemy of done.
*Thread Reply:* Here’s an example using ALVIN: • Name of brand / founding date or defunct, country • Model name, pen type, description of design features, color(s) and size(s). • A series may have a nested list for related models • I try to include a date or period of manufacture where the info exists.
*Thread Reply:* It's really frustrating that the desktop version of the Notes app allows me to assign color to text but the mobile version does not.
*Thread Reply:* I like mine in a spreadsheet so I can easily sort and filter
*Thread Reply:* and one thing that is hard to keep in the spreadsheet is good pics of each
*Thread Reply:* @Kelvin Pang (drifand) I see what you are doing with your list. I started down the same direction until I refactored everything into two tables. One is specifically for things in the collection and (almost) has only specific pencil related data. The other is a manufacturer related database which contains information about each model. The goal is to know what has been made and what I have. I don't completely know either at this point but the arrows are pointing in the right direction.
That is AWESOME!
Currently in my Toolbox™, which doesn't include any extras (and there are hundreds): • Pilot: 214 • Pentel: 147 • Mitsubishi: 115 • Tombow: 76 • Newman: 47 • Ohto: 34 • Sakura: 29
I have NOT really gone down the color variant rabbit hole with the usual suspects: Kerry (5), Smash (7), Graph1000 LE (3)
I also don't give a damn about modern pencils and their associated variants (Tombow Mono Graph)
I love the 925 35 but have not pursued color variants
In most brands, I don't count the cheapies. Only ones counted here are 8 Zebra Ringlets because I have all the colors
Mine is of course the P200 on top with 301 in the collection (not counting custom pencils), with another 100+ in their packages. Duplicates and extras (for sale and otherwise) is over 500.
I have probably about 200 other Pentels.
And a smattering of others that I bought because I like them, not as collections.
Also, regarding a database, I have a Google Sheet that is woefully inadequate for now. I'm actually thinking of building my pencil database into my website at some point, and I may even create a marketplace to connect buyers and sellers.
Been going back and forth with the /r/Pen_Swap moderators, and I've been quite unhappy with our communication. I want a place that is NOT eBay to sell vintage MPs
Once you factor in eBay fees + taxes + PayPal fees, it's REALLY tough to offer anything for reasonable prices.
^ this is why I create this group. To put minds together in creating a community for us that doesn't solely rely on Reddit and eBay. My wife and I were competitive skiers and we had our own community and marketplace and we never sell gear on eBay or Facebook or any other marketplace. It's all kept within the community.
Yes, I sell P200's on eBay, but I also sell the same pencils plus a lot of others through my website for about 25% less.
A lot of those are ones I bought to sell, but a lot are extra P205A pencils that were picked up in Lots, here and there. I have them in my pricelist for $2 each.
I am curious what kind of stats @George Fox keeps. He’s My Supply Room, right?
Yeah. I've had a couple of emails with him a week ago. He's pretty quiet.
George is in here? That's cool—his collection is incredible. I think he got most of the good stuff before it became impossible to get
In my pencil database I keep the following information for each pencil Make, Model number, Serial number (assigned by me), lead size, Color, Generation, Condition, Current location, Source, Cost Notes, Date code, picture, last update.
My Pentel model database: Model, color variants, version, name, lead size, body, grip, clip, eraser, year/era, location, colors, dims, notes, pics, source
Model - only what appears on the pencil (LLNNN in general) or in a catalog or a guess (ends in X) color variants - really color codes (official variants only) see colors for names of colors in same order version - major or minor version change (some more than others unofficial) name - name printed on pencil or nickname if there is one lead size - .2, .3, ... body - material, shape, and other notable statistics -(e.g. metal faceted) grip - material, shape, color and other notable features note if different from body clip - material, integrated or slip-on, and other notable features eraser - size/model for replacement year/era - if known first catalog year, otherwise decade, approximations as needed location - country of manufacture colors - color that the codes describe notes contains information about multi-color pencils and more dims - weight with eraser and 1 lead, max len, min len, max/min grip diameter, TtG, GtC, lead sleeve max/min (g, mm) notes- everything else needed to identify pencil, interesting, firsts, etc. pics- cached picture or reference to catalog page source- where did information come from? (catalog, picture of collection, etc.) Include catalogs where this appears
Yes it is alot. Sometimes it feels like an insurmountable amount of information to gather
Wow. That's very very very impressive amount of info.
I haven't kept tight records of what I paid for pieces. Some were gotten too long ago and some I could go back and figure out but I haven't gotten the bug to keep track of that.
One thing that would be useful is if I would keep track of where pieces are. I often think something is in the studio but it ends up at my storage place and sometimes it's MIA.
And then there was that time I let @Knocktype11 borrow my red PD1065.
I have not kept good records either. Some fields in the collection database are for most pencils. I'm trying to be more disciplined with new packages as they arrive. Getting pictures and figuring out generations are major bottle necks in this procedure. And, to make things as difficult as possible, I am mostly interested in Pentels which are not in known catalogs.
*Thread Reply:* I've really been feeling the b&w lately too.
Is the Revolution white or silver?
*Thread Reply:* Wood. That's class right there.
*Thread Reply:* I like the wood because of the warm feel, but the colors do pop a bit more on the white
Loving the original Revolution pencils. I find that a white or neutral background is usually better for helping to show the actual colors off. 👍:skintone2:
I agree when you can get the background to be true white. If the white balance is off the white background can look yellowish.
tbh perhaps the hardest part of having a large collection is determining how to organize it 🤔
*Thread Reply:* I completely agree. I am constantly moving things in and out of cases in an effort to better organize. Add one more random rOtring to the collection and now I have to start moving cases around.
*Thread Reply:* I actually have quite a bit of display designs that I've been slowly realizing in my spare time. The focus is for displaying these large collections in a unified and modular way. I'll possibly do a kickstarter later this year with the first round of displays.
*Thread Reply:* Seriously. I can't seem to find anything I really like so last night I whipped this up. Goal is to make it out of wood next but it turned out so well I was going to just make a few more.
*Thread Reply:* I can’t imagine having as many as @Pearsonified!
*Thread Reply:* This is pretty good actually. The density is high. How is the stability?
*Thread Reply:* I used sewing pins to secure everything.
*Thread Reply:* The pencils themselves are also fairly stable because the sleeves are all poked into the foam board.
*Thread Reply:* I’m thinking the next version will have some elastic string to secure the top half.
*Thread Reply:* It’s also not too deep and should fit in something else like a shadow box.
*Thread Reply:* This one is just a hair too dense though as they are slightly touching each other on the clip.
*Thread Reply:* I had a dream you bought a $600 pencil
*Thread Reply:* I like the density on that last display.
*Thread Reply:* It helps to define them and it made the whole thing much sturdier.
Figuring out my storage was bad enough:
Drawer (70 max) → Drawer + Cases (230 max) → Small toolbox + Drawer + Cases (400 max) → Huge toolbox (1100 max)
The only issue with The Toolbox is that you can’t see them all!
With a large collection I’m guessing you have to rotate things out of main storage and into show case.
I want the drawers to be set—they're a pain in the ass to arrange
If I can't show what I care about showing in 1100 slots, I should give up 😂
though things do get sketchy when I get more pencils than a single drawer can hold, as is the case with Pentel and Mitsubishi
Why yes, I am currently unboxing a big shipment from Japan, thank you for noticing :smilingfacewith3hearts:
*Thread Reply:* Proper—underfoot and everything. Swap the carpet for bamboo, and it's my office
*Thread Reply:* that's just a small rug for my chair. I'm anti-carpet in this house
*Thread Reply:* Ahh, Buyee. On my first Buyee purchase, I was surprised with such a huge box and a bunch of envelopes.
*Thread Reply:* It's phenomenal to me that I can still find so much delight in a new shipment
*Thread Reply:* Hard to believe there were still enough interesting pencils left to get 😳
*Thread Reply:* This particular shipment has been non-stop hits, as I splurged a little bit on more expensive models I had avoided up to this point
*Thread Reply:* • Pilot H-1094 • Pentel PG1804 • Metaphys Locus • Staedtler 925 85 03 • Staedtler 925 95 03 • Pilot Automatic (black + silver) • Pilot green ring drafting • Pilot H-1084 • Pilot old drafting 0.3 white, 0.5 red • Platinum 1500¥ double knock
*Thread Reply:* Cheapest of these was the 925 85 03 at 3999¥ + 500¥
*Thread Reply:* There’s a real nice looking H-1093 on eBay right now
*Thread Reply:* I always look for pictures of the end cap, as the stamping tends to wear off before everything else
*Thread Reply:* Both H-1093s on eBay look pretty solid
*Thread Reply:* Finally finished the unboxing and am struck by how delightful it was. You'd think this would get old at some point...
*Thread Reply:* This round was characterized by high profile 0.4 models, Colleen Jibs, rare Pilots, Mitsubishi double knocks, and then odd delights from Ohto, Zebra, Sakura, and Sailor
*Thread Reply:* Gimmee 3 good reasons you didn't stream this unboxing?
*Thread Reply:* lol would have been like 9 hours
*Thread Reply:* You're young. All you have is time
*Thread Reply:* ...which I would have heartily enjoyed
*Thread Reply:* Finally scored one of these guys in perfect condition (Zebra M-1001): http://blog-imgs-27.fc2.com/l/u/c/luckymarimo/CIMG1726.jpg
*Thread Reply:* It also strikes me how many cool pencils Zebra made over the years...
*Thread Reply:* But my impression of them is they're a cheap, shitty brand
*Thread Reply:* Fact is, prior to 2000, Zebra was pretty damn cool
*Thread Reply:* I just used a 2-way Sharbo that is the only multipen I've ever NOT immediately hated
*Thread Reply:* got this sliding sleeve ¥1000 stainless steel pencil with etched grid
*Thread Reply:* Also: I maintain that the Sailor cartridge (née Sheaffer cartridge) is the worst pencil ever created
*Thread Reply:* Zebra ASv: Amazing, one of the highest quality ¥500 pencils I"ve ever held
*Thread Reply:* Zebra's automatic mechanism is the best I've ever used, too
*Thread Reply:* those cheapie black plastic automatics are the best (gray, green, red, blue, yellow? I'm not 100% sure of the colors)
*Thread Reply:* I doubt it's the worse pencil ever created. I'm pretty sure any 0.4 pencil would qualify for that award.
*Thread Reply:* (dems are fighting words)
*Thread Reply:* https://www.reddit.com/r/mechanicalpencils/comments/s1gc89/the_daily_grab_zebra_knockless_sharp/
*Thread Reply:* Just finishing my 10,000-word missive on 0.4-as-goat
*Thread Reply:* I also love the one used in the Niji Grip 700 and the Platinum Hayaai 2
*Thread Reply:* It's funny to me that the best automatic mechanisms are in cheapies
*Thread Reply:* My ZEbra Knockless doesn't have that "U" on the clip
*Thread Reply:* I wonder if they are fake
*Thread Reply:* maybe they have a laser pointer hidden inside
*Thread Reply:* (inside joke. @Knocktype11 will get it)
*Thread Reply:* Maaaaan, so much to cover: • Pilot barrel differences between [0.3, 0.5] and 0.7—especially through the 1970s
*Thread Reply:* • Mitsubishi model numbers making NO damn sense but giving some insight into when certain models were produced
*Thread Reply:* • Pilot's use and re-use of certain parts in different eras
*Thread Reply:* • Is Sakura grossly underappreciated? Were they the kings of executive pencils?
*Thread Reply:* Oh God, the laser...
*Thread Reply:* • what do we call the ubiquitous twist-up eraser that we see on everything from PaperMate Pro•Touch IIs to KIN Mephistos to Faber-Castell TK-fine Vario Ls and beyond?
*Thread Reply:* I'd love to know when Pilot switched from the old, dotted eraser cage to the newer, crimped style
*Thread Reply:* Another cool thing to know would be pricing stickers sorted by manufacturer AND era
*Thread Reply:* and potentially even region, as SE Asian stickers are clearly different from Japanese ones
*Thread Reply:* Are we referring to the likely psychotic dude who was posting sometimes daily questions about pencils containing lasers? Hope he got some help.
*Thread Reply:* Yeah that guy. I’m not trying to make light or fun of someone with struggles. He was very present on the subreddit for a while and I guess we all noticed.
*Thread Reply:* I don't know how he's able to get out of bed in the morning
*Thread Reply:* It was definitely interesting while it lasted. I hope he found a pencil he was happy with. Not making fun either but I kinda feel like frickin' laser beams in pencils could only be a positive.
*Thread Reply:* Hopefully he didn't buy it from Hobby Lobby.
*Thread Reply:* The guy is still around but has moved on from pencils and was looking at knives. I permanently blocked some people on reddit for feeding the fears of that person. You have to take seriously signs mental health issues.
*Thread Reply:* I love these. A year ago, I'd have told you the Rotring 600 and Staedtler 925 25 are the pinnacle of MPs.
*Thread Reply:* I still look at these gorgeous 925 25/35 collections and think this is pretty much as aesthetic as an MP display will ever be
*Thread Reply:* White with gold, red with gold, blue with gold, dark gray with gold, and black with gold are just incredible
*Thread Reply:* That would be an expensive meal
*Thread Reply:* I have one of those in the photo. 😂
*Thread Reply:* You two have changed the game. I've been slowly collecting since college and you two have acquired a lifetime of pieces in hardly no time.
*Thread Reply:* A matter of timing for me. The wife and I recently got ourselves out of some pretty severe credit card debt that we had accumulated in college being young and dumb. Combined with the amazing proxy services and available markets these days, it’s hard to stop myself.
*Thread Reply:* In fact, I pulled the trigger on this last night: https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/q1031529107
*Thread Reply:* Definitely the most money I’ve spent on a single pencil.
*Thread Reply:* Dudeeee! Congrats!
*Thread Reply:* Cannot wait for that to be in your hands
*Thread Reply:* Close that order out. Ship now! Overnight
*Thread Reply:* Screw it. Jump on a plane right now!
*Thread Reply:* Plus I see how sad @Pearsonified is when he doesn’t bid on things!
*Thread Reply:* I keep hitting reload to see if it’s there yet
*Thread Reply:* It’s shipped to Buyee so won’t be long
*Thread Reply:* Did you get the insurance and inspection?
*Thread Reply:* I have to get a new one of those because mine has a nice scratch on it.
*Thread Reply:* That's cheaper than your recent purchase
*Thread Reply:* I don't know much about this piece. It's an anime character from what I can tell.
*Thread Reply:* Was it a super small run or something?
*Thread Reply:* I know it was limited, as most of them are, but not positive on the numbers.
Placed my bids for tomorrow; absolutely went ham
*Thread Reply:* Lots of good stuff closing out tomorrow. I had a few things I had snipes on that I realized I already have. 😆
*Thread Reply:* Ever want to buy another of something you already have just for better sticker placement? Drives me crazy how they vary.
*Thread Reply:* 😂 🤔 not that I can talk but that might be a wee bit ocd… maybe to replace one without a sticker!
*Thread Reply:* only thing more crazy would be opening the package of a $600 pencil 🙂
*Thread Reply:* I can't wait for you to get it
*Thread Reply:* I'm so glad I'm not in your way :D
I picked up a Sharplet 500, a couple of Pentel 9s, and a yellow Platinum Double Action. Hope these hit the warehouse soon enough. I need to consolidate and ship within a week. Been having the sky blue and yellow limited Kerry's sitting in storage for a while. Excited to get those in my hands.
*Thread Reply:* I had to leave one item behind last time because it just didn’t make it there in time.
*Thread Reply:* Yeah those Kerry's I got didn't make the last shipment.
*Thread Reply:* and so you have to wait a little longer
*Thread Reply:* Many such cases of 1 or 2 soldiers getting left behind 😔
*Thread Reply:* With 0.9 silkscreened above the barrel joint?
*Thread Reply:* I have a couple of those coming to me in my shipments
*Thread Reply:* And I have a Kerry that I was missing on it's way now. https://buyee.jp/mercari/item/m48063400664
*Thread Reply:* I have a yellow and black S19 coming to me on different shipments.
*Thread Reply:* Oh that Kerry is awesome!
*Thread Reply:* I have these two coming
*Thread Reply:* I got those in one of my last orders last year, along with the 50th anniversary ones
*Thread Reply:* Yeah that black Tokyu Hands Kerry is smokin’
*Thread Reply:* Oh wow, I wanted one of those LE Kerrys, but 8000¥ is nuts, IMO 😂
*Thread Reply:* (let's not judge my purchases, lol)
*Thread Reply:* I still need to pull the trigger on one of those sets with bordeaux, turquoise, and gold skeleton
*Thread Reply:* I have that set. So beautiful
*Thread Reply:* I have the sky-blue Kerry. It is my least favorite Kerry. You get used to the cap and grip not matching on all Kerrys except for the black, but with the sky-blue it is too much. The cap beautiful but the grip is extremely meh. One of the few pencils that I have been really disappointed with. YMMV though. Luckily it only cost about 2200 yen.
*Thread Reply:* Are you saying the color matching is poor?
*Thread Reply:* It is off a bit, but a lot of that is the cap being metal and painted with a gloss lacquer, and the body and grip being a molded plastic.
*Thread Reply:* Yeah I paid I believe $19 for them. Let's see if I'm as disappointed
*Thread Reply:* If you look at the non-special edition Kerrys the plastic parts are not a flat color. I don't know what to call it, but it is unevenly colored which gives it some more depth. Maybe a hint of metallic something.
*Thread Reply:* The molded parts tends to have metallic swirls… like solidified girly shampoo.
*Thread Reply:* Remember that time I said I was happy to be getting the sky blue and yellow Kerry's in?
*Thread Reply:* Party poopers.
*Thread Reply:* Sorry! I looked at it again today and it is not completely flat. Under the right light it is evocative of "girly shampoo". It is subtle.
So rejoice!
*Thread Reply:* So it's your favorite pencil ever! Yuss! I'm excited again.
Based on what you think others know about you and your collecting habits, what are 3 pencils you DON'T have that everybody else probably thinks you do have?
*Thread Reply:* Interesting question. It is not clear what people think I collect!
There are really two oddly missing from my collection:
*Thread Reply:* (trying to figure out if I know who this is)
*Thread Reply:* I don't know where @Ƶ is. That information has not been made public afic.
*Thread Reply:* Hi. I'm a non-Texan living in Texas and I like Pentel and side knocks but I do not have and don't plan on having the following:
• Pentel Techniclick • Pentel Pianissimo • Pentel Side FX • Pentel Quick Click
*Thread Reply:* @sideKnocks (atxalais) I am curious on how you decided to draw the line on these.
*Thread Reply:* I have more Pentel than any other make but I will probably never go for the Technomatic or Techniclick at any price because of their clip designs.
I also have representative pieces from most of the popular vintage drafting series but seldom feel the urge to complete any of the lineups.
My 2 precious Sakura Archi are only ballpoints, not the sharps… and I'm ok with that. I do use pens more on a daily basis.
*Thread Reply:* Sensible points, all
Unless a lineup is currently available and cheap, I pretty much never go for the 0.7 or 0.9 versions of drafting series
*Thread Reply:* My favorites are series like the Tombow Dimple Pro, which was only available in the 3 sizes I like most—0.3, 0.4, and 0.5
*Thread Reply:* Next would be anything that came in 0.3/0.5 pairs, such as the Pilot H-200X, H-210X, etc
*Thread Reply:* Thinking specifically about vintage "sets," here's what I have that is semi hard to get: • Pentel Accugraph (0.3 and 0.5 in the old version, 0.4 and 0.5 in the new version) • Tombow Monotech 1000 (3, 4, 5, 7, 9) • Tombow Dimple Pro (3, 4, 5) • Pilot H-325 (3, 5, 7, 9) • Pilot H-56X (3, 4, 5, 7, 9) • Pilot H-200X (3, 5) • Mitsubishi MX-1052 (3, 4, 5) • Mitsubishi Automatic Pencil (3, 5)
*Thread Reply:* Obviously, the PMG-inspired series deserves a mention for its unique sizes—2, 3, 4, 5, 7—but I don't have the 7 😒
*Thread Reply:* It’s going to need it’s own stand for sure.
*Thread Reply:* That is my missing PS45D pencil, plus the matching Pen.
*Thread Reply:* goooootdammmit I still need that green 45
*Thread Reply:* I how have an extra PS45A and PS65.
*Thread Reply:* maybe I'll go buy a Quicker Clicker with the rubber grip from the drug store. BRB
*Thread Reply:* Then the Q525, Q45 and Q565 pencils and matching Pen.
*Thread Reply:* You guys do many pens or just those with an MP partner? I picked up these Pentel BLN665’s from AliExpress and love them. All metal hexagonal shape.
*Thread Reply:* FedEx came by! Got my fix. Phew.
*Thread Reply:* I don't do pens but those are super cool
*Thread Reply:* Heath, that thing is gorgeous!
*Thread Reply:* The only pens I do are for nice ones that match the MP.
*Thread Reply:* I am kind of disappointed in the Q45, Q525 and Q565. They are light and feel kind of cheap. They have a plastic clutch.
*Thread Reply:* That being said, I still would like to find the Q45B Red and Q45C Blue
*Thread Reply:* I thought the Q525 was terrific
*Thread Reply:* Just liked the feel, but I didn't look at the internals
*Thread Reply:* It just feels lighter than the PS series. The huge plastic cap comes off to a cavernous body.
*Thread Reply:* All’s Right With The World 🙇
This week is just getting better! My Spoke 4’s arrived and are very nice… except they roll off my desk. I love the warmth of the titanium grip.
*Thread Reply:* So it took you just two minutes to find the design flaw.
*Thread Reply:* Yeah I didn't even think about it before buying but over all very happy.
*Thread Reply:* You got two of the same.
You didn't want to try the inverse?
*Thread Reply:* The inverse grip on the 4
*Thread Reply:* I didn't like it.
*Thread Reply:* I did want to see about switching the internals to the Orenz
*Thread Reply:* I use an 0.9 Spoke 4 pretty regularly
*Thread Reply:* Here's one of my inverses
*Thread Reply:* The two half's screw together I presume?
*Thread Reply:* I think they are fused
*Thread Reply:* I think you can switch them on the 6
*Thread Reply:* I wondered because it didn't seem to want to but then I had trouble unscrewing the tip so just thought it was me.
*Thread Reply:* I'm not a huge fan of the 6.
*Thread Reply:* Even less of a fan of the 5
*Thread Reply:* What don't you like about the 5? The scallops?
*Thread Reply:* After using the 4 for so long when I held the 5 for the first time I was sad
*Thread Reply:* Not everything can be bangers
*Thread Reply:* The 5 is definitely cheaper, and they should sell it for less instead of adding a bunch of extras into your package
*Thread Reply:* I hated my 5 until I put a Graph Rock tip on it; then I kinda started liking it
set the channel description: Pentel Kerry - Finally got a quick moment to get my pencils together. Please let me know if you're aware of any models I'm missing.
I thought I was just creating a new post and not "channel"ing! Sorry 'bout that! (Still getting used to this setup, especially on limited time.) I used to get emails with some of the topics, but the last one arrived on Jan. 30. When I realized several days later, I thought perhaps there weren't any posts. (Can you believe that I thought that?!? 😄)
*Thread Reply:* Love all the colors! But that lone Tokyu Hands black is awesome.
*Thread Reply:* Just waiting for mine to get here from Japan.
*Thread Reply:* Heck yea. I love this.
I gotta say, the 50ths are such great colors. Especially next to each other.
I also really like the cdt. I think I got mine from you a few years ago.
Who do you think has the world's finest collection? I'll nominate 3 peeps who have inspired me: • Ray Lau (@raybonche) • Kelvin Pang (@drifand) • Gary (@cytherean)
*Thread Reply:* Gosh 😅 For me, Dave’s reviews were a constant source of inspiration. Found out about lots of MPs I didn't know about.
And Elton has trays of treasure I can't begin to comprehend…
I guess it's not about any one particular collector or collection, but learning and getting inspired by what they share.
*Thread Reply:* I was remiss in not mentioning Elton! Still gotta hit him up to buy some unobtanium
*Thread Reply:* One I really like is Cuirassier (https://blog.naver.com/enne313)
*Thread Reply:* I like it, too, but it's hard to browse the pictures efficiently 😕
Ray, in particular, seems to have the longtail of just about every manufacturer covered
General Rarity + Prestige + Current Availability = Price
I have to remind myself of this when gauging prices for various pieces that rarely come up for sale...
Like this piece right here—in one year, it's come up just two times (this is the second): https://jp.mercari.com/item/m94368567278
*Thread Reply:* There is one on ebay. It has been there for several months. It is more than I want to pay for one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/384456007818
*Thread Reply:* I thought this one was closer to the models they made in 6 different colors, but now I see you're right—it's the same pencil!
Is it that nice? Not particularly. Is it a badass Mitsubishi double-knock, of which there are very few? Is it also RED? Where's the buy button?
I wish they'd made a reverse of this pencil with a plastic grip and chromey barrel
*Thread Reply:* Ain't that the truth? Finger oils on chromed parts… ugh
*Thread Reply:* Not just finger oils; I just find them difficult to grip. For me, it's stainless steel or plastic, and then metal/chromed whatever is way down the list. Even if the tips are too long—as often seems to be the case with Pentel—I find that plating difficult to grip as well unless it's raw brass.
*Thread Reply:* I only have 1 light blue of that Mitsubishi W-knock and I'm unlikely to go after more colors. I think I went for it way back coz it was cheap, under 2500, and the grip reminded me of the Pentel S55. So basically, the S55 is your ‘reverse’ of this design, except not W-knock.
*Thread Reply:* I have a few of these. They are pretty fantastic. They are my favorite Mitsubishi pencils. The look is so mid century. I missed a black one recently. The spring in them is out of a chevy I think.
*Thread Reply:* All the ones I've seen, I've seen in the past 2 months. Elton has a red one listed on eBay; a seller on YAJ has listed blue, red, and black; and a Mercari seller has listed a red one.
Updated. For reference and discussion. The coloured markings indicate known gaps in the collection and their colours. Wanted:
*Thread Reply:* You know the Tradio tip would go very nice with your metal cap on the 505.
*Thread Reply:* Thanks @Heath. You're right about the Tradio tip. I might just do that, since the cap is custom anyway.
*Thread Reply:* Great collection. What about the rest of the Clear Clic IIs?
*Thread Reply:* I have a blue 355 if you need. They are usually all over the auction sites.
*Thread Reply:* I don't include the pd15 in my Clic collection.
*Thread Reply:* The 347 and 349 also come with the Pentel Clic stamp.
*Thread Reply:* Three colors of the PQ11 are also great for a Clic collection.
*Thread Reply:* Clear Clic IIs?
I'm counting on that blue 335 from you @sideKnocks (atxalais). But also keeping my eyes out for one on auctions just in case. Have legit never seen one.
I'm iffy about the PD15. They'll probably be moved onto a different case at some stage.
Haven't seen the 347 and 349 with clic stamp. Thanks again for the info.
I have zero PQ11. I'm undecided about them at this stage. Kinda not by choice as I've not seen any in auctions... that said I've rarely searched for them.
*Thread Reply:* Sounds like you should remove the PD359s from your collection and sell to me
*Thread Reply:* I've genuinely considered it. I'm not saying that to get your hopes up though... I kinda like them too much.
*Thread Reply:* Did you skip over my clear clic IIs in the second row? I've just gone back through your collection on reddit and I might be blind but I think I have all of the ones you have? Starting to wonder if you're messing with me 😉
*Thread Reply:* You need black and blue
*Thread Reply:* This is a rocking collection! I don't worry about completing a collection. Collecting is the end, not a collection.
*Thread Reply:* @sideKnocks (atxalais) ok well I stand corrected. I'll add black and blue clear clic IIs to the wanted list.
*Thread Reply:* @Knocktype11 I like the way you think, but I need goals. Even if it's just to complete a mini-goal and then move on to another 😉
Also thanks for the kind words
*Thread Reply:* Goals are great! Without goals you just wander around. Just don't forget that the wandering is also fun.
All of mine are green and brown. Are those leather working tools?
*Thread Reply:* It's not that I'm good at things. It's more that I fill my time differently than most. I haven't watched tv or movies in over 20 years and I'm not on social media (besides this and the subreddit).
I have one of those sitting at Buyee right now. I would like to get one of the A185 Clean Sharplets.
*Thread Reply:* I guess I can remove this auto-response now. It's not nearly as funny since we talk about Sharplets a lot these days.
I picked up 6 of them from Yamauchiya that I received in a week ago.
*Thread Reply:* They're surprisingly tiny
*Thread Reply:* As far as I know I have all of the colors
*Thread Reply:* How many do you have?
*Thread Reply:* And what are the color codes (or your best guess for them) and the colors for them?
*Thread Reply:* The only one from Yamauchiya that I did not get was the Yellow.
*Thread Reply:* If there's a yellow I don't have it. Sigh.
*Thread Reply:* i have the same 6. They are still available via Yamauchiya - https://www.yamauchiya.info/products/detail1021.html
*Thread Reply:* Yeah that's where I had gotten mine from a while back
*Thread Reply:* I've never seen them anywhere else
*Thread Reply:* So these are extremely cute. What is the length? And Q605? The Qxxx numbers are pretty fun. The Q604 is an Injecto. This reminds me of the wacky numbers for the Shárplets.
*Thread Reply:* Yes, the Q605 is the Pop'npop version of the Q505.
*Thread Reply:* @sideKnocks (atxalais) How long are these? I know you have calipers.📏
*Thread Reply:* About the same length as a P505, just smaller in diameter.
Could you take a good photo of that for the book? I have the one from the auction, but I prefer to use pictures from people who give me permission, if I can.
I really like the messed up product name silk screen on this one. likky II
*Thread Reply:* I was a Tikky II hater until I got one in hand—now it's up there with my favorite plastic-bodied pencils
*Thread Reply:* The II is really the only one for me.
*Thread Reply:* That middle one looks very orange
*Thread Reply:* These are some of my favorites, and that's the finest orange specimen I've ever seen
Sharp L. What an interesting piece. So tiny too.
*Thread Reply:* A PMG for the Ladies :-)
*Thread Reply:* Are they different in any other way? Are there date codes on the lead reservoirs?
*Thread Reply:* Only difference is that the blues are a little different.
*Thread Reply:* I can't figure out how to take it apart.
*Thread Reply:* I like how the finial resembles some of the more art deco inspired designs from American makers like Scripto, Durolite etc. It's probably press fitted as an end cap to hold things in?
*Thread Reply:* I call this look a "flanged end cap," and it appears from time to time on some really interesting specimens (across various OEMs)
*Thread Reply:* Here's a red Colleen with a similar flanged end cap: https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/t1045470798
*Thread Reply:* Kinto did this with their best pencil: https://preview.redd.it/9fv22w6kx6i71.jpg?width=640&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=35feb37f745d45231c41b256911ad5597e0d4404
*Thread Reply:* These are the 4 I have now
*Thread Reply:* Here is a great example of my OCD…
I want those stickers to be lined up.
*Thread Reply:* The green and brown, I got from Taiwan. The blue stickered one has Taiwan on the sticker, but the green and brown don't.
*Thread Reply:* Only one way to find out, hoss.
*Thread Reply:* Knock each one and divide by 2?
A great way to store pencils
*Thread Reply:* The S19 sweet and really looks like a vintage pencil!
*Thread Reply:* I don't collect Excaliburs. Especially when they look like that!
*Thread Reply:* I’m not making an auto response for that
*Thread Reply:* I see very nice stuff over here, the Mickey ones on excalibur boxes are one of those, very nice combination, that's a Fender champ over there?
*Thread Reply:* Nice! You have black, red, and blue? Those are the only colors of these that I know of.
*Thread Reply:* The blue I have is much darker than yours. Pictures next week.
*Thread Reply:* These two have some light burn
*Thread Reply:* And I have one for you, along with the P115s
*Thread Reply:* Those P115s are so cool
*Thread Reply:* I'm sorry, A115s, not P115s
*Thread Reply:* You can give me some of those too. 🕺:skintone2:
*Thread Reply:* Can't say I've ever seen a velvet MP cool!
*Thread Reply:* These non-drafting Pilot double knocks are my absolute favorite pencils
I bet you never woulda thought I'd have such a fine apparatus
*Thread Reply:* Who knows. I never used it. 😂
I know I say I don't collect rubber grips but here is one I keep forgetting I secretly have.
*Thread Reply:* That’s an odd one. Is it a one of a kind or were there others?
Cases I need to go through and organize. I guess I also should document what I have like all you organized collectors do.
That is a stack! First thought: that is alot! Then, some of the cases don't have handles. Finally, you have a case just for sharplets!
Yeah I prefer the ones without handles.
That sharplet case is full with no room to spare. 😉
Not sure how you don't have them in a spreadsheet. Once you have so many, it's hard to remember exactly what you have, especially when they're all out of sight - which is my only issue with cases - you can't see your collection!
I guess I get my collecting style from my father. My whole life it's been “I think I have one of those” and he'd walk away for a while and either come back with whatever we were talking about or something totally off the wall but more interesting. We joke about not knowing what's in “his closets” which are all of the storage rooms he has.
Well now I’m curious what he has in all the storage rooms…
Does anyone currently have a Buyee order happening who would be willing to bid on some pieces for me>
*Thread Reply:* Nevermind—I see now it will be too many damn pieces
Damn exchange rate is gonna get me back in the game 😒
This is one of the best deals I've ever seen: https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/w1048415507
*Thread Reply:* Bottom row, 7th from right: Is that one of those super high end Sakura double knocks?
*Thread Reply:* God dammit. And at today's exchange rate, these were all free
*Thread Reply:* I just didn't want to re-start a buyee shipment because I put too much energy into this crap 😭
Absolute banger of a deal here—snag a Gimno, stainless steel etched Pilot Elite (2), silver and black double knocks from Mitsubishi (these are the ultimate scores in this lot), and even a turquoise-ringed Uni0.5 drafting pencil
*Thread Reply:* At the current exchange rates, this deal is absurd. The two Mitsubishis alone would sell for more than than the price of this lot.
*Thread Reply:* If I didn't already have every damn one of these, I'd be all over this 😂
*Thread Reply:* btw, that same double knock model also came with a copper barrel...and that is one of the pieces on my very short list of "NEEDS"
At least 4 of these pieces are very nice: https://jp.mercari.com/item/m42404712521
*Thread Reply:* • Pentel 9 (2nd from left) • Tombow 5 champagne (4th) • Tombow hairline (5th) • Pilot Sharpen ¥500 (6th)
*Thread Reply:* Wait, when did you get all these Tombows?!? I think these are all Turkish variants. Etsy?
*Thread Reply:* These are all LX s which I believe is the Turkish version.
*Thread Reply:* Yep. There's a dude on Etsy that has these. Let me find his name
*Thread Reply:* At first glance it looked like a bunch are dupes, but looking more closely there are some with same body but different cap - are they all different sizes? What is the order you have them in?
*Thread Reply:* I have them in absolutely no order
*Thread Reply:* My OCD says there should be an order of some type
*Thread Reply:* but I've let myself off the hook with that stuff a long time ago
*Thread Reply:* I have a life coach that tells me no
bit of a double knock bonanza here: https://jp.mercari.com/item/m13703648039
At capacity with my 925 limited’s. Think I’m missing 2 of 57 I know of - a Coach and Four Black/Gray and the original Silver Meister limited.
*Thread Reply:* Just wait… i'm sure they're eyeing gradients next
The Mannish line of the Orenz is some of my favs.
*Thread Reply:* Don't recall seeing those before.
*Thread Reply:* These are the best of the limited edition Orenz pecils. The color scheme is very mid-century.
*Thread Reply:* these, Chill Time with Friends, and Simple Days are my favs
*Thread Reply:* When I saw these something clicked in my head. I'd previously came across a bunch of rebranded Bic Clic pens under the Kikkerland moniker. Very similar 2 tone scheme. Had to get both :D
*Thread Reply:* What year were the Bics from?
*Thread Reply:* Do they have other colors?
*Thread Reply:* I think Kikkerland did another batch with metal 2 tones
*Thread Reply:* You can put the 2 grip pieces in any orientation, yes? Super strange pencil
*Thread Reply:* Yup they can be rearranged.
You can flip through my photos here of a regular A325 with the pieces moved around
*Thread Reply:* Which orientation you like best? The one shown on Donald Duck above?
*Thread Reply:* I like the first photo on the Reddit link above
*Thread Reply:* And another pencil to add to the book. Is this your pencil?
*Thread Reply:* The next version of the book will have 2-3 new pencils up front and 4 Disney pencils, plus lots of new pictures.
*Thread Reply:* It will be after I receive my order from White Rabbit Express. Waiting on 2 auctions to be delivered.
Do y'all collect Kerrys? I don't try to get all of them but I have a dozen or so.
*Thread Reply:* I have a few. The older ones with the "5" have a clean-out rod incorporated into the small cap at the end of the body. It is kind of like an easter egg in an already cool pencil.
*Thread Reply:* I have resisted for a while and don’t have a single one, but that is going to change soon.
*Thread Reply:* Start with one of the non limited edition ones. You can get them for like $12.
*Thread Reply:* They are one of the best carry-and-just-use-it pencils around. For $12 or so it is hard to beat for an EDC pencil that you can put in a pant pocket without being afraid to sit down. They are kind of slippery and have a way of worming their way out of your pocket though...
Wedding is over so I will try and collect as many Kerry's as I can 😏
*Thread Reply:* Congrats!
*Thread Reply:* Wishing you happiness all the way!
*Thread Reply:* Here is a rare one to find. https://jp.mercari.com/item/m41842023074
*Thread Reply:* The gold skeleton and the Tokyo hands are my favs
*Thread Reply:* Is there a documented list of all the colors/versions?
*Thread Reply:* Plus I have the 4 Anniversary Kerry’s still in the box
*Thread Reply:* You really had to throw that 0.3 Sharplet 500 in there for my eyes didn't you?
*Thread Reply:* Well at this point, it is the only Sharplet 500 that I have, until the three 501's come in from Japan.
*Thread Reply:* So it fit in this spot
*Thread Reply:* If I ever rob you that may be the only piece I take
*Thread Reply:* The CDT and Tokyo Hands have unique grips. Are there any other Kerry models with unique grips?
*Thread Reply:* Only other unique Kerry grips I know of are the custom ones by Lindsay Wilson.
*Thread Reply:* Don’t think I’ve seen those - do you have any pics?
*Thread Reply:* I can't find the picture now, but I have asked Lindsay about it.
*Thread Reply:* Here's one he tried making but he couldn't do the cap.
*Thread Reply:* Here is the photo I was thinking of. Lindsay just sent it to me. "That's both hexagonal and round, in brass and stainless."
*Thread Reply:* Do you have any A125 Sharplets?
*Thread Reply:* There's 3 in that picture
*Thread Reply:* Not Sharplet-2, Sharplet.
*Thread Reply:* So just Sharplet A125 and not SharPentel A125? So there's 3 different versions of the same pencil?
*Thread Reply:* I'll have to look through all of mine but I don't think I have just Sharplet
*Thread Reply:* Actually I do think I do. I'll check.
*Thread Reply:* I don't think I’ve actually used any of my Sharplet 125s… they mostly came bundled in lots with other treasure…
*Thread Reply:* Same here. All of the Sharplet-2's I have were from Lot purchases. I specifically went after the SHARPentel and the Sharplet.
*Thread Reply:* https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/l1055390962
Metaphys… the brand lives on but the pens and pencils are OOP.
*Thread Reply:* These are gorgeous. I don't have any of these.
*Thread Reply:* Yes it is. I caved and bought it from Andrey’s a couple years ago.
*Thread Reply:* A spot of calm in the middle of the pandemic
*Thread Reply:* I have the metal ones too.
*Thread Reply:* That is the only one I am missing now.
*Thread Reply:* If I had a duplicate it would be yours
*Thread Reply:* WHAT is that sitting on?
*Thread Reply:* Pentel vinyl record
*Thread Reply:* https://www.ebay.com/itm/224358246681
I freaking love that it's still in the packaging.
I freaking hate that it's still in the packing.
I want to open it.
I don't want to open it.
*Thread Reply:* That is so cool! It's in such great shape - what’s the age?
*Thread Reply:* Oit has the new logo so 1970 or a little later.
*Thread Reply:* This means that they were making these from the mid 60s to at-least the early 70s.
*Thread Reply:* Other than Snow White who else is on the pencil?
*Thread Reply:* Looks like there's also a dwarf. I can't tell which one
The Q555 is such a cool piece. As an 80s kid these are some of my favs.
*Thread Reply:* Didn't we find that these are actually from the 90s or 2000s? They definitely have that 80's vibe and colors. Best of the Sh@rplets.
*Thread Reply:* Yeah I think so but they still make me jazzed as an 80s kid
Here is a one of my PD1065 in its forever home.
I love this packaging.
*Thread Reply:* Do you have a flatbed scanner?
*Thread Reply:* Could you scan the inside of this, so we can add it to the Catalog Directory?
*Thread Reply:* Yeah that's awesome. So you never did answer me hole old?
*Thread Reply:* I'd rather die than give you control
*Thread Reply:* 1974 to 80 is the data I have in the book.
3,4,5… Waiting to complete my uni M-1052 series… I used to think 1052 included 0.7 etc
*Thread Reply:* What else do you need for the 1052?
*Thread Reply:* I'm looking for a grey 0.3 and 0.5… strangely, the 0.4 was the first one I managed to snag
*Thread Reply:* Ah yes—I don't have any of the gray specimens. And like you, I mostly see the 0.4 in gray, but rarely the 0.3 or 0.5 🤔
Here is the current state of my Excalibur, Scepter and SG collection. I have a few duplicates, but this covers the ones I have.

If you look closely, all three scepters and the first two SG33 pencils have a different eraser cap than all the others. The W-Knock (Unknown Model 05) has this same cap and it is one of the things I watch for to determine that these are probably very early 70's pencils.
*Thread Reply:* Sweet collection! I noticed that there was something different about the eraser caps.
*Thread Reply:* Totally awesome to see them all displayed this way
